Starting a charter school is a long and difficult process. This is one in a series of posts providing a "cliff notes" version of the steps we have or are currently going through as we make Valley Inquiry Middle School a reality.
Step One - Obtain a grant to plan and implement the charter school. This is not strictly required, but most people who want to open a charter school need some start-up funds to get going. Valley Inquiry Middle School was awarded a Charter School Incentive Grant by the Oregon Department of Education in January.
We owe a big thank you to Mark and Lou at Charter Starters for assisting us with our grant application.
